He’s running, he shoots, and he scores!!! Who’s that soccer player we may ask. While other soccer players prefer to be popular, this one isn’t; his name isn’t many magazines, he doesn’t play fancy or complain a lot, he isn’t known because of his faking abilities, in fact not many people do know him. He is a talented Brazilian soccer player, Ricardo Kaká.
Kaká lived his early life in São Paulo. As a young boy, he loved to spend time playing soccer. His parents’ names are Simone Cristina dos Santos Leite and Bosco Izecson Pereira Leite. He also has a brother named Rodrigo, but he is known as Digão, who is also a professional soccer player.
When Kaká was only 18 years old, he had paralysis-inducing spinal fracture which almost ruined his whole soccer career. The injury was a result of a swimming accident. Luckily he made a full recovery and was back on action playing soccer.
Kaká’s first club career was with São Paulo when he was only 8 years old. When Kaká was finally old enough, he joined his school’s soccer league; ‘Alphaville’ was his team’s name. Kaká’s great skill and devotion lead their team to the finals. Finally, his dream came true in 2002 when he joined the Brazilian team. Unfortunately, he only got to play for 25 in the 2002 World Cup. Thankfully, Brazil the World Cup that year anyways. In 2003, Kaká was the captain of the Brazilian team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. Unfortunately, they only came in 2nd place in that tournament. In 2004, he was voted in 10th place for the 2004 FIFA World Player of the Year award. In 2005, he was voted in 8th place for the 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year award. Finally, in 2006 he was voted as the 2006 Best FIFA World Player of the Year! He managed to also get the award in 2007!!! Unfortunately, the 2008 award went to Cristiano Ronaldo (to read more, visit his article in the Sports section).
Now, if someone asks you who your favourite soccer player is, think again, it may not be one of those big superstars that are really the best, it might just be that soccer player over there, the one scoring the goals or at least making them happen, but not getting noticed.

On Wednesday December 3rd, 2008, the Toronto Raptors fired their head coach, Sam Mitchell, after their big loss on Tuesday (December 2nd, 2008). Their big loss was so big that it even made history. It was the 5th worst loss in franchise (NBA) history!
Mitchell, 45, replaced Kevin O'Neill as Toronto's sixth head coach on June 29, 2004. Mitchell will be replaced by their assistant coach, Jay Triano. This is Jay’s 7th season with the Raptors. Jay is not focused on winning, but is focused on making sure that the Raptors are improving, getting the ball and doing their best. He states that by doing this, they will start to win many more games.
The Toronto head office has all agreed that it was time to make a coaching change. The Toronto Raptor Players were given no voice in the change or even the subject. Toronto Raptor’s team captain, Chris Bosh, has encouraged the team to keep on going and not sulk about the past, but to look ahead to the future, think about what needs to be done and face all the challenges. When Chris Bosh was interviewed (you can watch the interview by clicking on this website address http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=video&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/teams/raptors/rweb-081204-boshscrm_wm9_512_download_ntsc_constrainedvbr.asx&video=blank&nbasite=raptors , the video is in the sports section and is called Bosh’s response to the Coach Change), he states that the Raptor’s will not sulk about what has happened to their team, but will keep on going and looking forward. Stay tuned for more information to follow.
More about the interview; this video will show you Bosh's response to the coach change. It will also tell you what their team will do about the matter and how they're taking it. It will also give you a brief summary on what the Toronto Raptor's new coach, Jay Triano, is planning on doing. For years, the best athletes have gone through so much hard work and training. They’d always been striving to achieve their goals. For numerous hours each day they’d work out until their clothes were drenched with sweat. How would it be like to wake up one morning and figure out that you could be a star athlete like Wayne Gretzky or Michael Jordon by simply drinking some magic potion?
O.K. it’s not that easy, but still, after all these years of athletes actually having try more than their best to achieve goals, know they reduce their standards and cheat?! Why is that? They drink high energy drinks, go on steroids and even do blood transfusions! Blood Transfusions, ‘what’s that and how does it help improve athletes?’, you might be thinking. So far, it is a non-traceable transfusion of blood. Athletes ‘donate’ their blood and then before a big game, get it back into them, thus giving them the extra energy to perform better. When athletes receive the blood again, it gives them much more red blood cells which gives them both oxygen and energy. It improves endurance, speed and strength. It does not improve ability and skill, though it does provide to do skills faster and more efficiently.
About 35% of all national skiers now do blood transfusions. Blood transfusions, usually help an athlete improve themselves by up to 40% (depending on the sport and person). Blood Transfusions are ILLEGAL. In my opinion, they should ban all types of drugs/energy drinks. Athletes need to start being and doing what they are meant to.
